I don't read sci-fi novels anymore, and lost interest in star trek a while ago, but over the past year, I have become engrossed in two excellent shows that are sci fi in nature. One, Battlestar Galactica (BSG) on the scifi channel has just been phenomenal, deep, entertaining, and so much better than "alien of the week" shows. Not that I didn't love Star Trek the Next Generation a lot. But still, not every show can be like that. The other, which I've been watching USA for the last few weeks each Sunday night is the 4400. It's about 4400 abducted over the years and all suddenly returned back, but with special powers, and supposedly they're supposed to help save the earth from catastrophe at some point. It's a little more x-file-ish with government agents, and refugee/immigration issues, not as creepy, but quite entertaining. I'm not sure where they're going with the show but it's summer, it's hot, and I'm willing to go along for the ride.
Here's something that made me cheer, and think, lord, i am a geek. They're showing the "lost" episodes of Dave Chappelle, and one of the sketches is about him getting revenge now that he's rich and famous, and it opens with a quote "Revenge is a dish best served cold -- Klingon Proverb". Ha ha -- I couldn't help but cheer.
