results from my toastmaster speech

I never did mention how I did on my "icebreaker" speech. It went beautifully! I even got a few laughs. I organized my speech around 3 themes, eating, traveling and talking. And I said, in order to know me, all you need to know is that I like to eat, I like to travel and I like to talk....a lot. And then I talked about my family using those 3 themes.

Talk about pressure -- there was a special guest, a judge from the district toastmasters, who attended. She liked the speech. I was very glad I practiced twice in front of friends, and once I recorded myself on a tape recorder. It's a really good way to make sure that I remember to pause properly when doing public speaking.

Now, I have to figure out what the next speech should be on. The focus is called "organize your topic" -- and well, from what I've heard, it could be on anything. At one of the meetings, someone analyzed a Beatles tune. At another meeting, my coworker talked about building her dream computer -- and the dilemma of building it versus buying it. But I don't know what I want to talk about. Hmmm....suggestions would be most welcome.
