the vibe, slightly freaked out

It's almost 1:30AM and I was gonna go to sleep, when I heard the hum of cars outside. There are at least 10 police squad cars double parked on the street. I just saw someone on our roof with a flashlight, and then I saw a helicopter with search lights sweep the street. There is something really strange going on. I just tried calling a neighbor and he said in his 30 years here, he's never seen anything like this. One of my fellow coop members is actually a cop, but I don't have his number. I'll have to ask him later what's going on but this is a bit spooky.
