My schedule today

Wake up by 7, out of the house by 7:30.
Start working by 8 to get intranet home page headlines ready.

Interview the third candidate for the senior director position from 8:30 to about 9:15 (this is the 3rd day in a row that I've been doing these early morning interviews -- we've had three promising candidates) go into talk to my boss about my observations...

9:15-9:30 rush back to review the home page and approve for posting.

9:30-10am: weekly phone call meeting on project status for the Employee Directory redesign

Quick bite; answer emails and phone calls

10:20-11am: review a photo slideshow project with the web developer, and reset his priorities because he's spent too much time perfecting it, and discuss another project for redoing a site for Human Resources on benefits and worklife

11-12 pm: Review with Amy, the new consultant, her observations and recommendations for the purchasing site redesign (this is the project that I started in May, and did a certain amount of work but put on hold)

12-12:15pm Update headlines to link to a new ceo memo that the communications team just published

12:30 - 1:45: lunch in Bryant Park / interview with another candidate to discuss the job, ask more questions that I didn't have answered in an earlier interview that was held on Monday

2:15pm-2:25pm: review of open issues for Employee Directory redesign with the developers and the tester and determine that everything will be fixed by Friday.

2:30-3 pm: Discussion with my boss and a colleague about the 3 candidates we interviewed on this second round. Agreed on who we'd ask to meet with the senior vp of our department for the "seal of approval" interview.

3 to 3:15pm: Check the photo slideshow project once more to review that it's "live"

3:15-3:45pm: Take the consultants team out for ice coffee break at Starbucks

4pm to 5:15pm: Phone/Web conference to review another project manager's web application for updating business/personal information online to see what effect it will have on my Employee Directory project. Discover that there are some significant problems that could cause delays.

And then wrap up emails. Get a phone call from a cousin and talk to her for about 20 minutes. I left by 6:30 pm and took a walk around the neighborhood, talked to Neighborsman and La Chinita, browsed in shops and got home by 8pm.
