What lousy weather tyesterday! My cousin Katiekat made it here on one of the few flights that wasn't canceled -- even arrived on time if you can believe that!
So despite the hail flying in our faces, we were real troupers and got around -- thank goodness for subways. I treated my cousin to her first Indian meal -- she absolutely loved the dosas (she even went back for a second one) and the fried califlower. We then made it to Tiffany's and she bought herself earrings for her 21st birthday -- and then we oohed and ahhed over all the jewelry.
I scored great tix to Wicked for Saturday's matinee, and because the weather was so horrible, we hung out at the MoMa for several hours and then we were at Patsy's for good NY thin crust pizza.
Today, we went to Serendipity 3 - which is this wacky victorian style dessert shop that does a decent brunch and sandwich. It was featured in the movie, and is famous I guess for being the first decent sweet shop around....but oh, the attitude of the sort-of-maitre'd. I got my head bitten off for walking in to inquire what the situation was for getting in. I was semi-amused and horrified at the same time.
Then, we saw Wicked - and I was incredibly impressed with how good it was. We were sitting in the 2nd row -- almost too close but it was quite an experience. I am really sorry now that I never bothered to see it with the original cast, but this group was great. And it was Katiekat's first show on B'way -- and what a way to introduce her to it. Being that close to the stage, you could really study the expressions on the actors' faces, and get a good look at the costumes, which all seemed to be assymetrical, and the hats were rather wacky. I don't know how to describe the style exactly, maybe I'll think of a better explanation tomorrow.
more later, I"m off to bed....
