Today was just an absolutely beautiful day! I hung out with Neighborsmama and we spent the morning at the National Zoo in Washington DC. It was crisp, cold and sunny -- and the animals (those that love the cold weather) were all frisky and energetic. We saw sloth bears, who have huge claws and tough long black hair, lots of marsupials, three tiger cubs, and, ta da, all three pandas!
Mama panda was napping, and hidden in the trees, there was baby panda Tai Shan. It's a wonder he doesn't fall off his perch. Daddy panda was in another area, cordoned off, and not quite at ease with his new home. He kept trying to get comfortable and just wasn't there yet. Anyway, this is a photo of the mama panda that I took. The baby panda is up in the trees to the left of her. (Click on the photo to get the enlarged version)
P.S. Anyone who loves grammar will recognize the title of that book, and the joke about the panda.
