too much rain but it didn't stop me

(Bear with me, I'm catching up on blog posts. I was sick for a week and didn't have a lot of stamina to write. Just lots of napping when I wasn't working, er, and socializing to a certain extent. You can't keep me down for long!)

I'm in San Diego right now and loving it! Seeing my friend Egg Egg is great, and I"m really enjoying the SUN. Something the east coast was lacking for the past two weeks.

In fact, the rain was the reason I was thwarted in my attempt to go to the US Open this past Tuesday. Despite that, had a great meal in FLushing at Spicy & Tasty with IM Boy, Hiking Boy and Paddling Girl. Yes, I could say their real names, but nicknames are more fun. And we laughed and talked a lot and told travel war stories, and then went to the US Open where it was starting to clear up, but we found the bar next to Arthur Ashe, had a beer (they had more but they needed it more than me), and then we waited out the weather. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be. No matches that day. I was really bummed out, but it was a cool time hanging out with friends. I was so happy everyone got along, especially as IM boy did his best imitation of an older brother/dad and subtley interrogated Hiking Boy, then gave me the thumbs up.

This past Thursday, I went out on my second official date with Hiking Boy - we went to Koreatown and ate lots of wonderful foods, including a great grilled fish, pa-jeon pancake, bibimbop, and lots of garlicky appetizers. This restaurant had a long line, but while we were waiting in line, the hostess handed us all menus, then came to take our order. Very efficient, and that way when we sat, we didn't have that long to wait before our food started coming. They sure don't let you linger in that restaurant -- gotta have turnover!
Then we took a nice stroll south, ended up in Madison Square park, thought about the shake shack but since H.B. is diabetic, ice cream wasn't a good idea, so we ended up sitting at Tabla and had a nice drink. Then I went home, packed for San Diego and stayed up late watching the amazing Agassi-Baghdatis match. Part of me wishes I had exchanged my tickets for going to that match, but then I knew I wasn't totally healthy, and I ended up hanging out with H.B. so that was cool :)

Ok, I'll have more on San Diego in my next post - I've taken amazing photos with both my regular camera and my digital camera, including pictures of a fantastic awe-inspiring omakase meal at Sushi Ota!
