TGIF

It's been a crazy week as I've had family and coworkers visiting.

Monday, work, and then a quick race home and driving Chongstein to the airport, then raced back, found parking, and got to the Village Vanguard with 2 minutes to spare. Ha! Just in time to hang out with the Carnivore Boys (my coworkers) and enjoy the sounds of big band jazz in a room no bigger than most living rooms.

Tueseday, spent a lot of time discussing intranet portal designs. Then, dinner at a Brazilian Churrascaria with the team - where I was reminded why I don't normally eat so much meat. It was right up the Carnivore Boys' alley. A little scary. And my parents just got back from Croatia that day, so after a stroll up 5th ave to the white cube Apple store, I got to enjoy NeighborsBaba and NeighborsMama's incredible photos from Croatia and their 10 day schooner cruise. I was so envious.

Wednesday, still intense -- an all day department-wide meeting, followed by drinks with the group. And then I've got to drop by Manhattan Vision to fill out questionnaire for my contacts (gotta earn that $600 for the study, y'know). And then raced over to check out the free concert at Julliard that my company was sponsoring. It was fantastic to hear such amazing pianists.

Thursday -- as if one all day meeting wasn't enough, I had an all afternoon meeting to go over portal projects. Then, that night -- my co-op board meeting at 6pm to go over the $300K renovation project, and I was so brain-fried, and fortunately it ended by 7:30pm. Then, I made my way to the Jackson Heights Film Festival kickoff (that some of my friends have been busy organizing). So last night, after I went to my co-op board meeting, which thankfully, only lasted one hour and a half, I went to the Jackson Heights first int'l film festival. I missed out on the free food, but got a free beer, and saw the movie short films. They were all different, and fairly entertaining. It was around the theme of immigration and home. I think my favorite one, although it started off slow, was about a bored Chinese shop clerk who decides he wants to visit Ireland, learns Gaelic, and gets there only to discover that hardly anyone speaks Gaelic anymore. After the movies, I heard a little bit of the Q&A with the film directors, and the I skipped listening to the bandera band (live music) and went home and chilled out some more.

WHEW!

OMG, grrl, you have such an interesting life! I think from now on I will just read your blog and live vicariously through you instead of watching tv every night.

Ha! It's not always this intense. But just lately, it seems I'm just a girl who can't say no and must overschedule her life!

Speaking of which...I splurged and bought Aerosmith-Motley Crue tix at Jones Beach tonight. So that's where I'm off to in a few minutes. My friend Chewie is coming with me and keeping me company, a last minute substitution when Hiking Boy dropped out due to having to work all weekend!
