world cup recap

It feels odd not having any more world cup games to look forward to.

I gave my 3rd toastmasters speech yesterday, which is supposed to focus on "getting to the point", and I talked about my experience watching the world cup. It went pretty well -- probably the least rehearsed speech I've given so far, but i used some note cards and my enthusiasm for the topic did the rest.

I have my own set of awards for the world cup during the speech.

best hair -- the Italian goalie Buffon. His defense was amazing, and his hair, really gorgeous.

best show of enthusiasm, and turning around of a country's confidence: Germany

most disappointing teams: US and Brazil

best goals: Ronaldo's jogging feint (can't remember which game), Thiery Henry and Zisou combination in semifinal, any of Zisou's penalty kicks

most mystifying: Obviously, Zisou's headbutt in the finale

Don't forget the Joe Cole goal against Sweden or the Maxi Rodriguez one against Mexico.

And yes, I feel your pain of having nothing else to watch. I can't wait for the return of the Premeire League.

Let's Go Arsenal!
