east coast trek

I have to remember to update my world cup adventures from the weekend before, but no matter, let's jump to what I did this past July 4th.

My parents came up for the weekend to NYC and we went to the beach and we also saw Devil Wears Prada. Go see that movie -- you'll enjoy it. Also, the hq where the magazine offices are -- that's my office building.

Then I drove down with my parents to Baltimore where I visited Doc C, Mr. I'm-not-related-to-those-Halliburtons, and the world's jolliest baby. Seriously -- this is a real contender for best smile, folks.

Then I played golf on Monday in Maryland at Worthington Manor with my dad, his friend Than and my mom rode along. It's a very open course, hardly any trees, but boy is it hard. I've got quite a ways to go with improving my game (er, I seemed to average 9 on most holes), but I got better on the last few holes. On the 17th hole, was about to bogey, the ball would've gone in, maybe if it hadn't hit the pin. And, on the last hole, I overshot the green, got back on the rough, then I chipped the ball from off the green and it went in the hole! Very exciting, I actually leaped into the air with my hands raised and we all cheered. Even the guy who cleans the golf clubs cheered for me -- what a way to finish. Now I'm all inspired to take more lessons and work on my game

Tuesday, we went out for bbq at Red Hot & Blue for lunch with Bookbinder family, and then I went to watch the world cup soccer semifinal with fellow Brunonian Mr. T and his wife's house. Their house is beautiful -- looks like an English cottage off the set of Howards End.

I then worked from the DC office yesterday, but I'm rather tired because my bus ride home took an extra 2+ hours. I-95 was shut down north of Baltimore, detour because of overturned trailer and escaping horses....sigh. Didn't go to bed until 1:15am. At least I wasn't the one driving -- I was on a half-empty bus, and they played a movie for the last 2 hours. Still, a very long day.
