I lucked out big time this morning. When I woke up to the massive thunderstorms, I already knew there was no point in trying to go underground. I managed to get a seat on the 7 this morning, then walked a few blocks and made it to work in 45 minutes. But apparently I was the only one, because hardly anyone else got into work for at least another 2 hours.

How come the city just comes to a halt when the rain hits? It was like this in SF when I lived there, too.
You'd figure a little rain wouldn't really mess with 21st century mankind and all his whiz-bang gadgets. But alas, mother nature owns us all.
BTW, what's the heat like over there. Here in NC, it's 105! 105! OTOH, like our 1st SGT said, "It's good training for Iraq." (lol)
It was 100 in DC, about 95 in NYC. But today cooled off considerably to something much more reasonable. It'll probably rain again tomorrow.
Yes, there were afternoon thunderstorms and it cooled slightly, but tomorrow's another scorcher. 104 degree high! Ouch!
