
As you know, I like going on hikes and belong to an outdoor social club. One of the women I met organized an outing this past Friday for about 7 of us to meet up in her neighborhood to have fun at an indoor rock climbing gym. I have never done this before, and managed to do quite well. I made it up to the top of one wall, then another one, I got 3/4 before slipping, and then after that I tried two more times but it was exhausting and I started overthinking my moves. Everything is safety first -- there are harnesses, ropes and belayers to help. There are also small boulders that I practiced on climbing up -- also hard but more instant gratification because you can only do about 6 moves to get to the top -- I could only get through about 4 moves before giving up.
And I'm still a bit sore today from using all those muscles. (Check out the photo of me -- click to enlarge. I should add -- I'm probably about 3/4 of the way up that wall, and you can't tell but it's fairly high up)
