on remembrance

It is so beautiful outside -- I managed to sneak out for a lunch break and sit in a sunny courtyard and eat lunch. Meanwhile my brother and Dad are enjoying golfing at the Generals Ridge in Manassas Virginia. It's a seriously challenging, and fun course. But if you walk it, you'll run out of breath. There are so many ridges, hills that you have to go up and down. The last time we went, my mother almost turned over our golf cart on a seriously steep embankment. Did I mention that she doesn't have a drivers license?

Anyway, thinking about golf really made me nostalgic and think about my late Grandpa Neighbors. He was an avid golf fan, and had at least 7 hole-in-ones in his lifetime! Most people, pros included, wouldn't even get one! He taught everyone in the family how to golf.

Probably one of the last memories I have of him was our last vacation in Maui, Hawaii, about ten years ago. Dad, my brother and me went to the driving range, and Grandpa gave instructions on how to hit well. His heart was already weakening a bit, and so he sat, but it was a wonderful memory. Beautiful scenery, with Haleakala, the dormant volcano, rising in the distance as we hit ball after ball.

Anyway, that's a photo of me and Grandpa -- when I was probably 2 years old in Taiwan, playing around with my Dad's guitar, and me staring at the balloon that was floating around off camera.
