This past Sunday, I went skating with a relatively new friend in Bryant Park. It was surprisingly warm that day, a nice contrast to the previous two days of blustery, almost bitter cold weather. It was a lot easier, and cheaper, to skate in this park, than to go to Rock Center or Central Park. About $10 to skate for about as long as you wanted -- skates weren't lace-ups, they were snap-ons, and quite pleasant. So my friend and I had a blast going around in circles, and even though she hadn't skated since she was 12, no, neither of us fell. Yay for us.
After an hour or so of that, we finished off the excursion with a wonderful set meal at Sobakuh -- which is an amazing, homemade soba noodle restaurant on the lower east side, 5th St., near 2nd Ave. I highly recommend it. These noodles are made by someone who is obsessed with noodles and perfection.
