I think I've recovered from the general suckiness of the Enterprise series -- I gave up on that show in the last season or so, except for watching the mirror universe episodes, when everyone was EVIL. And, I've been completely heartened by how amazingly good Battlestar Galactica has been (no "alien of the week" in that show).
And now, it sounds like JJ Abrams (of Alias, Lost and the new MI:iii fame) is going to helm a new Star Trek movie. According to the report that I saw online, Daily Variety said the action would center on the early days of "Star Trek" characters James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock, including their first meeting at Starfleet Academy and first outer-space mission.
That could be so cool!
