our heroine learns to step, and flex, and downward dog

Last week, I figured, why wait for new year's to start a resolution? So I went and took a yoga class, probably for the 2nd time in my life. I didn't realize it was such an active sport. I must have leapt up to my feet, and gone down to the ground -downward dog - at least 50 times during the session. Even with my bad wrist, amazingly, it felt better after the class -- and the instructor said it had something to do with restoring the blood flow to that injured area.

No headstands or handstands for me just yet. Still, I think a once a week commitment is something I can keep up.

On the other hand, I tried step aerobics last night. I was pretty good at keeping up with most of it, but I completely understand why NeighborsMama refuses to do step. There are so many variations to moves, your legs can completely get tangled up. My years of dance training do come in handy, because at some point, you can't look at your feet, you have to commit to muscle memory and just go with feel.

Aside from the stiffness I felt this morning, I think the only other major downside from taking this step class is hearing loss. You thought I'd say knee injury...but no...hearing loss. The music in that class is so darn loud, and the instructor wheres a mike, and yells in the mike. Hello! Isn't a mike supposed to amplify so that you don't have to yell? So, I'm 50-50 on whether I want to keep this class up. Maybe a nice banghra dance exercise is more up my alley.
