If turkey tasted like roast pork, I'd probably eat a lot more of it. This is my profound conclusion after another annual repast of turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, broccoli, jalapeno cornbread, salad, and pumpkin pie. I liked all of it, but my favorite dish was the salad.
The vacation was fantastic.
I had an exciting ride to DC on the "kosher" bus. We were watching Hitch (surprisingly not the bootleg version). Lots of excitement as everyone tried to help the driver find the spot where we stopped the show during a break -- no way to jump chapters, just a lot of slow forwarding. The back of the bus was not so enthused about the movie, and one guy cursed. The driver said "i'll drop you off the bus right now, right on the freeway" and "i don't understand, usually a young crowd wants to see the movie", and a group of senior citizens in the front, who were having a great time, said "they must be a lot older in the back than us!".
Finally got to DC, had a great meal prepared by NeighborsMama, and saw the 10:30pm showing of Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Great movie, but not quite as good as the previous one. Still, I loved Mad-Eye Moody.
On "Black Friday", my mom and I went shopping and took advantage of the temporary no-tax on items under $100. We even got interviewed by a reporter from the Associated Press on why we were shopping! Fun -- my mom gave a fake last name though :)
Special thanks to my DOJ friend and his wife for inviting me out for a great night of pizza, wine and Trivial Pursuit. Once again, I was robbed of a Trivial Pursuit championship! Man, some of those questions were really obscure! How are we supposed to know that the answer to "who was the baseball manager who died when his car plunged 300 feet down his driveway" was Billy Martin? The questions in that box were at least 10 plus years old.
