Ka-la-la-la-OK

What do you think are the best songs to sing at a Karaoke party? We had one just the other day for my brother, who's heading out of the city and down south (sniff).

I should explain, my brother is a karaoke fiend, phenom, whatever. Kudos to him and all his coworkers who showed up to sing.

In my opinion, these are some of the songs most fun to sing.

- Mamma Mia (Abba -- frankly, almost anything by Abba is fun and easy to sing)
- Goldfinger (Shirley Bassey) -- Live & Let Die, and View to a Kill are both fun too, because then you have to do the requisite pretending to hold a gun and point and shoot ala James Bond
- Don't Cry for Me Argentina (Evita)
- Any old country music by Patsy Cline
- The Great Pretender (The Platters) and anything from that era...and the bonus, the choruses are always fun, and not ridiculously hard to sing, or high pitched.

I don't think I'm ever going to sing REM's "It's the end of the world as we know it", ever again. I don't know how Michael Stipe managed not to run out of breath! Another song I've attempted, but would never do again is Moon River. Ugh, it's almost as bad as Dancing in the Dark.

So, tell me, what do you like to sing?

And now I'm off, with all these songs dancing in my head!
