Queensbound

I've made the move! No more living in population 98% white-town. My new home is such a mix of cultures - Indian, Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, Spanish and, I'm guessing, some very old school Italian.

Whoo hoo. I'm now a proud homeowner-- er, I own 307 shares in my coop apt. to be exact. I'm still in a state of shock. Was such a tourist on the move yesterday. I was so excited to be going over the bridge, I snapped this shot.

I think I can get by without learning Hindi, but Spanish is a must.
I took a walk around the neighborhood and snapped a few photos of the stores that caught my eye. I lost track of how many different types of rotisserie chicken restaurants there were, but the peruvian Pio Pio rocks!

It's going to take a while to catalog the neighborhood -- but luckily, I've been mentioning my move for sometime, even to the car service guy who drove me to meetings in Jersey and back the other day -- and it turns out he lived in the area for many years, and drove me a map with his favorite malaysian, hong kong chinese, vietnamese restaurants and stores. This is going to be fun.

Now if I can only figure out how to unscrew the awfully old aircon that the former owner left, without dropping it on someone's head. And figure out how to fix a painted over outlet....hmm, any ideas?

Painted over outlets! Ugh, have you tried to push through the paint with a plug, or does that cause electrocution?
